Student Behaviour Policy

Welcome to Bricks and Blocks, our programs are designed to inspire creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. To ensure a safe, fun, and productive environment for all participants, the following terms and conditions apply to all children enrolled in our program.

1. Respectful Behaviour

    •    All participants are expected to treat fellow students, instructors, and staff with kindness and respect at all times.

    •    Bullying, swearing, teasing, name-calling, or any form of aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated.

    •    Respect others’ creations and workspaces—no dismantling, destroying, or altering another student’s builds without permission.

2. Listening and Following Instructions

    •    Students must listen attentively during instruction time and follow directions from Bricks and Blocks staff.

    •    Disruptive behaviour, excessive talking during instruction, or refusal to participate respectfully may result in time away from the activity.

3. Safe Use of Materials

    •    LEGO pieces must be used appropriately and safely. Throwing bricks or using them in a harmful manner is strictly prohibited.

·   LEGO pieces are not to be put in mouths under any circumstances.

    •    Students must help with clean-up and take care of all materials provided.

4. Hands-Off Policy

    •    Physical contact such as pushing, hitting, or grabbing is not acceptable. We maintain a hands-off policy to ensure the physical safety of all participants.

5. Participation and Cooperation

    •    While creativity is encouraged, students should remain on task and contribute positively to group or individual activities.

    •    Students should remain in designated program areas unless given permission to leave.

6. Workshop Pack-Up

  • Students are required to pack up all materials and equipment during the final 10 minutes of each workshop.
  • This procedure ensures the program runs smoothly and that the equipment is prepared for subsequent sessions.

7. Toys and Electronic Devices

    •    Personal electronic devices (phones, tablets, etc.) are not to be used during class time unless explicitly permitted by staff for a specific activity.

·   Toys and personally owned LEGO are to remain in bags outside the classroom.

8. Disciplinary Action

    •    Bricks and Blocks staff will use age-appropriate guidance and redirection to manage behaviour. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that embraces students from diverse backgrounds and supports neurodiversity.

Continued misconduct will result in:

    •    A verbal warning

    •    A brief time-out from the activity

    •    An email with a parent or guardian

    •    Removal from the program in the case of repeated infractions.

9. Parental Support

    •    We ask for the support of parents and guardians in reinforcing positive behaviour expectations.

    •    Open communication between families and staff is encouraged to address any issues that may arise.

By enrolling in Bricks and Blocks, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to support these behaviour expectations to help create a positive experience for all participants.
